Australian Forest Certification Scheme

WA Sandalwood Plantations were officially certified under the Australian Standard (AS) through the Responsible Wood Certification Scheme (RWCS) (previously Australian Forest Certification Scheme) on 1st October 2010. 13,000 hectares of plantations managed by WASP are certified under the RWCS.

Responsible Wood are the leading authoritative voice for forest and wood products’ certification in Australia.  The scheme has an open and transparent process for stakeholder consultation and involvement in the review and ongoing improvement of the Standards to ensure business relevance and capability, environmental responsibility and social awareness.

The RWCS standards are world class forestry standards that are endorsed by the world's biggest assessor of sustainable forest management.  The Programme of Endorsement of Forest Certification scheme (PEFC).  PEFC has 35 member countries, over 209 million hectares of certified world forests and over 5000 CoC (Chain of Custody) organisations, all with mutual recognition of RWCS through its membership.

More details of the Australian Standard can be found on the website,

WASP has developed a forest management plan that provides a framework for management of our plantation assets.   WASP considers the views of relevant stakeholders in the periodic review of the management plan.

WASP’s summary Forest Management Plan, independent certification status, defined forest area maps and audit report summaries are available at our Head Office and are publicly available to relevant stakeholders on request.
